With a financial contribution of $122,175 (UGX 460 million/€90,319), the Japanese government provided the necessary resources to kickstart the stadium’s construction, ensuring that Uganda finally had a dedicated facility for the sport.
In addition to financial support from the Japanese Embassy, the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the National Council of Sports – Uganda (NCS), and the Gayaza Parish Catholic Church all played essential roles in making this dream a reality. The church generously donated 1.21 hectares (three acres) of land for the stadium, providing a solid foundation for the development of the sport in Uganda.
